One step forward, two steps back

I’m staring at a list I made this morning and there are so many things crossed off, it makes me feel happy. And then I start adding things to it and I get a little overwhelmed.
Getting ready for travel does this to me and yet I find a zen place inside myself that 1) it will all get taken care of and 2) if we don’t have it, we didn’t need it.
I probably sound like a broken record since this happens every time we travel, but typing it out always helps me find peace again. Bear with me while I silently freak out about forgetting Fuller’s pullups and then realize they have stores in Ohio. Besides, he’s potty trained and accidents happen. It’s why they invented washing machines.
Tomorrow the list will grow and I will continue to get things done. And when I put my head down tomorrow night, I will be safe and warm in Ohio.

December Photo Project: Day 17

Since we usually are traveling for Christmas, we tend to have a small Christmas celebration at home before we leave. Some relatives will mail us presents at our house or, like this year, give us our presents to bring back from Lake Martin. We don’t like taking these gifts somewhere just to bring them back home again, so we try to set aside time to open the gifts before traveling.
We celebrated on Sunday afternoon. The time we spent opening gifts gave me a glimpse of the fun we will have watching Fuller on Christmas morning.
Today I was able to enjoy the perks of opening a few presents early- I used my brand new coffee maker! It is a great present from my very thoughtful SIL and her family. I debated waiting to use it until after we returned from traveling but excitement got the better of me and I couldn’t wait to brew a cup or two (or ten since I had that option).

Self Portrait Sunday: Busy girl

Here we go… another vague picture. It is me, working hard on the secret Christmas craft. I’m so happy it is finally done!
And no. I’m still not telling.
Um, and this really isn’t a self portrait. D took it while I was working. But it is a picture of me, so I am happy. There have been very few of those recently.

December Photo Project: Day 16

Could this be any more vague? Another picture from my Christmas craft project.
I still have to wrap them and mail a few of the tomorrow.
I only made 10, but I wanted to make more. Cost and time prevented me from doing that, but after Christmas I plan on making more to give away.
And no, I’m still not telling you what they are.
I’m not sure if even legal steroids would have helped me finish this project, but I did it!

December Photo Project: Day 15

I got a day behind without realizing it.
This is a vague picture, but I can tell you the bag and contents are from Ikea. The contents are being used in a Christmas craft project that I finished tonight. I can’t really tell you more than that because I have no idea who all reads this blog and the crafts are gifts for 10 people.
Also, I almost didn’t use the contents of this bag because I came up with a plan B that was way cooler than plan A. But plan B fell apart and I had to back up.
It’s all so very vague, I know. But it will be cool when I tell you what it is all about!

December Photo Project: Day 14

We went to the fan fest at Finley Stadium and enjoyed the “big game” atmosphere for a while as a family. I saw this woman holding the sign and was intrigued. Did she make the sign herself or was she holding it for someone else? How long has she been an App State fan? Did she actually have tickets?
We didn’t have tickets since it was App State’s third trip to the championship. Each year they show up, it gets harder to get tickets. In years past we get free tickets from someone, but people were smart this year and knew that if they got free tickets, then they could go for a pretty penny on ebay. Since we didn’t want to pay a pretty penny, we tailgated and people watch. We still had some family fun.
