This picture is the definition of crazy. We went to the park when it was BELOW 40 degrees. AND the park was very muddy due to the storms on Tuesday night. We were there for less than 20 minutes (and yet I had several pictures!).
I’m feeling very good about the December Photo Project and hope to visit more of the participants soon!

I spent a lot of time making cookies today.
Last year I ate my words and started making Christmas cookies with Fuller. Today I was making them so I could get out of the house this evening! There was a cookie exchange with women in our church and it was a lot of fun. We got to fellowship and get a wide variety of cookies to bring home to our families.
Above are some of the sugar cookies I made. Some were iced and went to the cookie exchange. Two dozen of them are going to a local school for a father/ son get together this weekend.
I also took four dozen of Chocolate Peppermint Cakemix Crinkles. They are really easy to make and taste really yummy, almost like a peppermint patty.
Here is the recipe:
1 chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
2/3 shortening
1 tsp peppermint extract
Mix together until smooth and shiny. Spoon into balls (I then use a fork to smash them down). Cook at 375 for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle powder sugar on top (do this while the cookies are still warm so the sugar sticks). Cool and enjoy!
You can use any cake mix and change the flavoring (or omit it) for variety.
Do you have favorite cookies you make at Christmas?

I took the kids out of the house on this rainy day. We spent quite a while at the Creative Discovery Museum, letting them both blow off steam and get a change of scenery.
There is a large kaleidoscope on the upper level and while Fuller turned the colorful panels, I snapped pictures. The outcome was quite pretty.

I introduced Fuller to tomato soup today. Yummy!

Fuller made this wreath today. I had leftover stars from the Advent pocket project, so I thought a wreath of stars would look nice. Tomorrow we will hang it in Fuller’s window.
(P.S. There are no pictures of him making it because I gave him the materials then went to take a nap. I overheard some of the conversation between Damon and Fuller and apparently Fuller wasn’t really into the project. So, I think I’m glad I have the finished product but would have had some really frustrating pictures if I had stayed up to watch him make it.)

This morning Tebow was up at 6, so I gave him his bottle and turned around to look out the window and see snow swirling in the darkness, lit up by the street lights.
We had snow! I watched it for a while and then the day started. We left the house around ten for a downtown thing and by noon the snow was all gone.
I sent this picture to the local news station and you can see it in their slide show.
I hope we get more in the future, but the first snow is always magical.

I almost forgot to have us do an Advent pocket tonight! But I remembered and we had a really good conversation with Fuller about obeying Jesus. The Swedish fish were a fun treat to remind him of Luke 5: 4-7.
Just a reminder, I’m participating in the December Photo Project, hosted by the lovely Rebecca. You can find other participants on her site. And if you are coming here from the DPP page, welcome!

One of the things about photographing my kids is trying to get certain things captured in megapixels. Tebow has been standing on his own for a little while now, and today I finally got it on camera. He stands up, throws his hands in the air, and waves them like he just don’t care.
I guess walking comes next and I better make sure I have the video camera ready for that.

Fuller spent quite a while playing with these nativity characters today saying things like “We should have a baby! We should name him Jesus!”

In keeping with tradition, I am participating in this year’s December Photo Project. I’m getting this picture in just under the wire, but I promise, I’ll be back to update some more tomorrow.
The picture above is a pile of Advent Pockets. I made them to hang on the mantel. They are not all done, so they didn’t actually get hung yet, but we did do the first pocket. I’m using the list at the bottom of this post about the history of Advent. I still need to gather all the trinkets, but I think it will make an impression on Fuller.
