When I was getting ready for church today I saw my hair glove on the counter and decided today was a good day to wear it. Not really sure why, but I decided to have Damon take my picture to use as today’s self portrait.

Aren’t I pretty?

I have to admit I am a bit vain about my hair, and love taking it from a curly mess to a sleek straight mane. I am devoted to John Frieda hair products, using the blonde shampoo to bring out my highlights and frizz-ease to help with the frizzies.

It is time for another hair cut, since it is starting to choke me in my sleep and is so heavy I have neck aches. But I won’t be chopping much off. Just the weight more than anything.

Anyway, thought this was a different perspective. If you have a self portrait to share, snap a pic, put on your blog, and leave a comment on Digicass, our precious host.

One of my crosses to bear is the fact that my eyes are not perfect. I have been wearing corrective lenses of some sort since I was in second grade. I got contact lenses in 6th grade, but as time wore on my eyes got worse. I developed severe dry eyes and after suffering for beauty during my wedding, I swore off contacts. Now I embrace my glasses as my permanent fashion accessory.

Which is why today I made a Great Discovery: www.ZenniOptical.com. They have glasses starting at $8, in styles I wear. I don’t have an up to date prescription so I can’t run it all the way through the site, but Zenni Optical makes it very affordable to purchase glasses over the internet.

I’m putting this on my list to check out next time I need to get glasses. Or if I ever decide to go back to prescription sunglasses (I use fitovers).

But the thing that had to get done, the cleaning my house really needs, didn’t get done. I just got lazy or caught up in Fuller. Or my husband coming home early threw me off.

I think I’ll be better able to complete some tasks tomorrow since a list has finally been made. Better direction makes for completed tasks.

One of the challenges of motherhood is the time period many call “potty training.” I have been involved with this training for the past few months but only the last few weeks have been really rewarding and made me feel like we are getting somewhere.

I must admit though, as far as milestones go, attempting this one was the most daunting. It didn’t matter how many books, articles, or blog entries I read, I never thought I knew what would happen. One of my worries about it all is Fuller’s refusal to poop… I wonder if he will need a colon cleanse at a young age because he keeps holding it in.

At least tonight he announced he needed to potty while we were at a friend’s house, and he went potty! That is a step in the right direction, and I will take the little milestones as the baby steps to the big milestone.

I am going to feel this tomorrow.

I have been up since 3:30 am. I was in bed around 11 pm, which is normal for me, but I got super hot and was tossing and turning a few hours later. Then Fuller woke up, apparently also hot, and was crying in the middle of his room for me. I got him some juice, had him hop back into bed and he fell back to sleep.

Not me. I am wide awake.

Part of the problem is that I have been dealing with allergies/ congested sinuses since Saturday. Not being able to breathe is pretty rough. And then the heat of the night isn’t helping either.

I never had problems sleeping until I was pregnant in 2004. And it was then that I decided that if I couldn’t go back to sleep in twenty minutes, I should just get up for a while. The guilt of possibly keeping Damon awake with my turning and tossing would force me out of bed. I would watch late night infomercials, surf the internet, and just mull around until I thought I could go back to sleep. Sometimes I could just change my location, move from the bedroom to the couch, and I would be able to fall back to sleep.

Well, tonight I opted for the computer. But I think I am almost ready to head back to bed. Only to get up in a couple of hours.
