A boost to the ego

Our family takes an annual trip to the SEC tournament. This year it was in Atlanta and we had a pretty good time.
One of the fun parts of the trip is the SEC Fanfare, a place to go and have sponsors give you free stuff under the guise of playing games and subliminal advertising. It works really well on 6 year olds like my son.
The AT&T booth had these foam “hoop hats” that Fuller really wanted. The problem was to get one you had to shoot a basket from a certain point on their court, in a certain way. If you made the basket, you then had to shoot from half court (or the foul line if you are a girl) The method and location were determined by a wheel you got to spin, after signing a waiver.
Knowing Fuller wouldn’t make any baskets, Damon became his proxy, trying to win Fuller the hat. Unfortunately, it was difficult to do. On Saturday he tried again, but fell a shot short. I got in line, to try and up the odds. I didn’t really think I would make it.
I was so happy to give Fuller that hoop hat. And it was such a boost to my ego.
