Orange you glad I said banana?

Image via WikipediaI’ve been dealing with leg cramps, which plagued me last pregnancy, and it really interferes with my already dubious relationship with sleep. I had to really up my water intake last time, and it really helped. So, as of now, my Camelbak and I are inseparable.
But even with increase in water, this time around, I have still been suffering. And then I had a duh moment.
I know potassium is a big help in leg cramps, and we haven’t had bananas in our house for several weeks. So last Saturday we bought bananas and since then, I eaten at least one a day. Actually I ate three on Saturday, but have been rationing myself since. Suddenly, I’m sleeping even better. I still have to get up three times a night to pee (like clockwork), but the time I do sleep is less painful.
Next pregnancy, someone please remind me: a banana a day keeps the leg cramps away!

If you enjoy celery, it is a great source of useable calcium (much better than any non-human milk). Low calcium will also give muscle cramps, especially in the legs.

OK dear, This is one you have not heard. Take a bar of bath soap unwrapped and place it between the bottom sheet and the mattress. At the foot or in the leg area. A new bar kinda hurts if your leg rest on it, so try a used bar (dry of course). I know you are laughing, and I know you will tell my sister I have gone nuts. Danita told me. It did work.
God Bless

Celery is a calcium source?!?! I never knew and am SO GLAD to know that!!!! Wow. I knew leafy greens were… spinach, kale, etc- but celery. Fabulous!
Thanks for sharing that!
I am always looking to add calcium sources to my diet- especially since I am really sticking to a vegan diet…. (ha- TRYING to stick to is more like it.)
Alli, I am glad you found something to help your cramps. I love the healing power of food.

@Aunt Lois,
Thanks for the suggestion! I put celery on my shopping list.

@Aunt Juanita,
I will try it, but I doubt I will be good test subject, since my leg cramps have really disappeared since adding bananas to my daily diet. It is an interesting idea, like putting cabbage leaves in my bra to help with engorgement (never did that either).

@Pixie,
Hey, food is an awesome healer. Like chocolate for depression. That’s what you are talking about, right?

@Tiffany,
Well, yeah, the next pregnancy. Because I have a feeling two kids will not be enough. I’ve always wanted four. Damon used to want more, something like a football team. So… yeah, remind me next pregnancy!
