Training wheels

My D40 manual is getting a lot of face time this week.
The memory card has been dumping a lot of images similar to this one:
Generally what will happen is I will be pushing buttons and wondering, “What does this do?” and instead of getting up to find something interesting to capture, I just take a picture of my living room wall. Like my clocks?
Later I decided should find something to take a picture of and take its picture repeatedly, pressing buttons and reading the manual between takes.
Obviously that one wasn’t exactly what one would call a “good” picture. But I call it a learning experience.
See, with every click of the button, it looks better and better.
This one was ok, but then someone came in and demanded I take his picture. While he was in a box.
I have to say, I am having so. much. fun with this new learning experience. This morning I ordered a new tripod, I’m thinking I should get one of these t-shirts (or someone can gift it to me), and look into taking one or both of these workshops. I feel like I’m watching Fuller learn to ride his bike with the training wheels. I weeble and wobble and eventually get somewhere. And soon, I will be moving and grooving with out reaching for that manual as often.

That stuff is what is going to make you an awesome photographer. All those clicks. I hope you go to the events, those sound like fun. And I wish those T-Shirts could be paid for via paypal because I’d get one as well.
