Self Portrait Sunday: Mickey and Me

Mickey meets Alli

This isn’t a self portrait (obviously) but it is a picture I wanted to share from my Orlando trip. The quintessential picture with Mickey!

When our group (Courtney, Trevor, and me!) arrived in Mickey’s Toontown Fair there were two houses- Minnie’s and Mickey’s. You could tour them and take pictures, which I thought would be fun. I didn’t realize the houses were actually staging for the line to meet Minnie or Mickey.

Trevor explained the characters didn’t really walk around the park anymore. You wouldn’t just “happen” on Mickey or Minnie in Tomorrowland or find a princess mingling in Frontierland. Instead the characters have specific locations to hang out and people line up for their photo op.

When I found out Mickey’s house was actually the line to see Mickey, I made the group wait the 45 minutes (maybe longer?) for my photo op.

When we got our audience with Mickey I was surprised at how short he was. And I said it out loud! Poor Mickey gave me some body language that he wasn’t too thrilled with my statement. It’s not like I told him to go buy some weight loss pills. But he was sweet and still took a picture with me.

If you have a self portrait to share, please post it on your blog and leave a comment on Midlife Musings! We would love to see your mug.

aww… that is SO cute! My last few trips to Disney I stood in many, many lines for photos with the characters. I remember when I was a kid and you could just walk up to them like you said. Alas, everything changes, huh?

Do you not remember hugging Mickey at DW when you were little??? And having your picture taken??? Oh, yes — I forgot — that was all wiped out by your acrophobic mother.

@Vieja - MOMMA! I love you, even if all I remember from our trip to DW was Dumbo. But don’t worry, you didn’t ruin my life. :-)

@Laurie - yeah, everything changes! I also think I will work a photopass into my Disney budget next time so some “professionals” can take our picture.

This is a great picture, even if Mickey is mad at you! :)

Short? He looks pretty tall for a mouse. Hehehe.

Exactly how tall would you expect a mouse to be, lol! Nice picture. You’re much prettier than the mouse. :D

Great pic! :) We didn’t get any Mickey pics when we were at Disney. Hopefully on our next trip we’ll sneak a few minutes with the mouse!
