title pic I heart my Beach Trekkers

Posted by Alli on March 9, 2008

Before I left for Orlando I was bombarded by Land’s End catalogues. And most of them had their new Beach Trekker shoes plastered on the front in a sexy, come hither, Alli-must-buy-these pose.

As has been blogged before, my what I put on my feet takes a lot of consideration. And recently I started some physical therapy that diagnosed plantar fasciitis and pronating arches (my feet roll inward). Since the support of my whole body begins at my feet, if they are messed up, it will affect other things like my knees and hips. Two areas of my body where I deal with pain often.

The course of action I was given was to purchase Power Step orthotic insoles. Which I did, and I immediately noticed a difference. And I knew, if I went to Orlando and spent several days walking, I was going to want to wear them non-stop. But at the same time, I didn’t want my feet sweating it up in sneakers and socks.

And there they were. The pretty Beach Trekkers calling me from the front of the Land’s End catalog. (Kind of like how I get when I see chrome door handles when we are renovating.) I ordered them, tried them on, and they were sooo comfortable. I was able to insert the insoles and I knew these shoes were for me.

But I made one mistake. I purchased another pair of shoes, Mary Jane looking Converse things, and wore them on my first day in Orlando. And what happened? I got a blister on my heels. So for the rest of the trip, I had no socks and lots of band-aid adjusting to do.

Earlier this week, when it was still warm, I wore my Beach Trekkers and was please to find I no longer needed the band-aids. I am so excited to wear them this week on our family trip, when lots of walking is required. I look forward to being able to wear my Chacos too, but when I need the full foot support, these trekkers are for me.
