My homemade Christmas gift

I had a lot of fun reading the comments from yesterday’s post. And it really excited me to learn most people approve of post processing of digital photos. If I could find mba programs in digital photography and post-processing, I’d try to find the means to sign up!

The last comment from Julie really gave me comfort:

I definitely do post processing on most of my shots–it’s obvious, but that’s part of where the art comes from, you know? I mean, the greats pretty much all considered the work they did in the darkroom an integral part of being a photographer, so we’re just continuing with that tradition, digitally.

And I think this is a great segue to for me to show off the “craft” project I made for Christmas gifts this past Christmas season. I left little clues here and there, but really, the final product was awesome: small twelve month calendars (5 x 7) and small 99 cent ikea easels to place the calendar. Each month was a picture I took sometime during the year (except December was from 2004). I then did some picnik magic and Damon helped me add the dates to the upper corner.

Below is February. I added all the pictures (without calendar insets) to a gallery on photrade, if you care to check them out.
