Weightloss Wednesday: Not so scary
Posted by Alli on October 31, 2007
I had a doctor’s appointment this morning. It was my yearly checkup with my regular doctor. The nurse thought I was a bit crazy when I told her I would be taking a picture of the scale. But hey, it looks like I lost some weight this week. Whoot!
The bloodwork from last week showed my cholesterol went down three points from last year. It could still stand to be lower, but my doctor says on paper I look healthy. (I have the blood pressure of a 14 year old.)
I was most encouraged by a conversation we had where he was able to basically give me some guidance for my next GYN appointment. A lot of that is private (for now) but I really feel like I have some direction to help my new OB/GYN understand the problems I have.
And then we ended up on the weight issue. He knows I want to lose weight and asked if I have a white ball of fury in my eye to do what needs to be done to lose the weight or do I just want to kind of try and see what happens. I told him I don’t have a white ball of fury but would like to try and get one. Then he quoted Yoda to me. “No. Try not. Do… or do not. There is no try. ”
I laughed.
It boils down to movement and I guess I just need to keep moving. Let’s hope for more of a loss next week.

I appreciate your doctor’s Yoda advice. I think my problem is that I am stuck in the try zone. I need to move into the zone of action.
I think I will join Weightloss Wednesday.
