Online Craft Club: My first amigurumi
Posted by Alli on September 29, 2007
I missed yesterday’s show and tell for the Online Craft Club. Hope you forgive me and let me show off my project a day late.
I participate in a bi-monthly group called Knit Wits and while the other ladies Knit, I crochet! I needed a project for our meeting this past Thursday and I decided to try my hand at amigurumi. I am a lover of all the patterns at Crochet Me (they just released their new site and it is purrrrr-tee!) and recalled the Amigurumi Dude pattern. I printed it out, gathered a skein and hook, and took off for Knit Wits.
I was able to complete the head while at the group. I had to pull out a bunch of rounds b/c I didn’t increase correctly on the first try. Once I figured out my mistake I was good to go.
The next morning I finished the legs and this afternoon I finished the arms. Then in about thirty minutes I stuffed everything with polyfill and whip stitched everything together.
I used Caron Simply Soft for the head, arms, and legs (white) and Bernat Haven (aplaca blend, cinnamon mist) for the body. I thought the softness of the alpaca would make it a bit more interesting.
This little guy will get some personality tomorrow, with the help of a tapestry needle and some yarn. I want it to go to my niece, Olivia, who still needs a crocheted something from her Aunt Alli.
If you have a craft project to share (it doesn’t have to be complete!), then blog it and then head over to the OCC to leave a comment with your blog post.
