Surprise alone time

Last night my husband took our son to a football game, so I got some unexpected “me” time. I was wanting to get a pedicure before our vacation this weekend, but never knew how to fit it in. And then yesterday morning my husband proposed taking Fuller to the UTC game and I jumped at the chance to go in for pampering.
I don’t know why, but I love having my feet done. The foot massage itself is enough to get me into that pedi chair. Unfortunately, last night I to have the technician stop rubbing the top of my right foot because I have a mysterious bruise. I have a Chaco tan so it is difficult to see, but it definitely hurt when she started kneading my foot muscles.
When she was done she asked if there was anything else I needed. It was about thirty minutes from their closing time and no one else was there so I asked if she had time to clean up my fingernails. I don’t usually get manicures because nail polish is wasted on me- it chips off so easily. But she did the cuticle thing, shaped them up, and put the clear coat on so they have a little bit of shine.
Doing this, getting a pedi/ mani, is something small (and I have to pay for it myself) but I love getting it done. It makes me feel pretty and forces me to spend time away from my family, which I think everyone needs every once in a while.
It was a nice surprise that I got some of that last night!
