Small steps to do
Posted by Alli on August 14, 2007
I have entered that time of month where I feel a bit out of whack, not really happy but not truly sad. I find it difficult to get going and do things during this time, so I have to set goals for myself. Yesterday I did pretty well, picking out a few things that I could do and realistically accomplish.
One of my stumbling blocks is being realistic about what I can accomplish. For instance, I see the mess in the dining room and I have to zero in on a small portion of the room or I get overwhelmed. Pile of papers on the buffet? I can handle that. It is only one step of many in getting a clean dining room, but I can do it. Empty the dishwasher in the kitchen is another small step. Putting away the pots is another.
I have two areas right now that I really have to break up into smaller steps, but I am having problems visualizing the steps. My bedroom and the big shelves in the kitchen. I need to get the bedroom done soon so we can start the bedroom remodel in the fall. The big shelves have morphed into a Paul Bunyan sized junk drawer, keeping me from using (or knowing) what is actually on those shelves.
I did so well yesterday making my list and working through it. I guess I just need to buckle down and keep up with this trend.

Have you heard of flylady.net? She has great resources for helping you clean and stay that way on a routine basis. I would try to do it if I was at home all day.
