Keeping a promise
Posted by Alli on July 27, 2007
I made a promise to myself that if I didn’t see the numbers on my scale going down and I got to 220 pounds I would sign up for Weight Watchers.
My little sister has been doing WW for a while now and is almost to her goal weight. She looks great, has an incredible wardrobe, and I am sure she is more healthy because of all the effort she has been putting into it.
Me, I feel like I look like a slob, hate getting dressed, and know that I am unhealthy at this weight. So today, after a few tears and cuss words, I stuck to my promise. I used money from blogging on my other sites and paid for an online subscription to Weight Watchers.
When I did Jenny Craig all those years ago, one of the things that turned me off to the process was the weekly meeting with a counselor. I just didn’t feel a connection and hated how that meeting really interrupted my life. Now that I am a stay at home mom, taking off for appointments and meetings seems even harder.
So, I opted for the three month online WW version to see how I would do. If I don’t see progress (the numbers on the scale have to go down to 180) by the end of the three months, then I will dig deeper and switch to the WW version where I have to go to meetings.
I think I have kind of complicated things already since tonight I am going to a business that helps me prepare freezer meals for my family. I had to pick 12 items from their “menu” and I have no idea what the ingredients look like. I am doing the Flex plan with WW, so I hope that I can figure out the points for these items.
Well, lets get it started.
Update: I went through the online tools and while my 10% reduction is 198 pounds, the overall goal (according to the WW site) is to get to 119 pounds. That puts me in the 100 pounds to lose category. I never thought it would get this bad.
