Anne and me

One of our local PBS stations is doing their quarterly fundraiser and as a way to get people to watch, they are playing one of my all time favorites- Anne of Green Gables.
They are playing all three movies- Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Green Gables the Sequel, and Anne, The Continuing Story.
Watching the first and second movies brings back childhood memories, mainly the ones about reading and writing. When Anne first aired on Wonderworks, it aired over several nights. After the first night I went straight to the library and checked out Anne of Green Gables and devoured it in two days. I was in love with the red haired girl and her imagination. And I wanted to write.
I remember getting an old typewriter and typing up stories and poems and whatever else I could. I loved it.
Maybe it is Anne and Lucy Maud Montgomery that I have to thank for my desire to read and write. And today I have to thank PBS for those good memories.
